The University of Utah was recently invited to join the American Association of Universities, the most prestigious association of academic institutions operating at the forefront of scientific inquiry and educational excellence. The AAU only has 65 member institutions and invitations to join are infrequent; 2019’s were the first since 2012.

Our five schools and colleges graduate 1,250 new health care providers annually, helping to solve projected provider shortages. Today, more than half of our training health care professionals at the University of Utah are women. Since 1967, more than 36,000 doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, mid-level specialists, scientists, educators, and other health providers have graduated from University of Utah.

The newly established Huntsman Mental Health Institute will focus on advancing knowledge and relieving suffering through research-informed treatment of mental illness. The Huntsman Family Foundation donated $150 million to for the effort, the largest gift in university history.
Reaching New Heights. U of U Health researchers received more than $373 million in awards in fiscal year 2019, representing an incredible 50% growth over 5 years.
Renowned for the award-winning genetics education website learn.genetics.edu, the Genetic Science Learning Center is collaborating with the National Institutes of Health All of Us Research Program to develop educational materials on genetics and precision medicine for the public, patients, and health care providers nationwide.
